Nancy Gieschen

Nancy Gieschen - Reaching, Teaching, and Training Internationals for His Kingdom's Work.

We are sad to announce the death of our beloved Paul Gieschen.  He passed away in 2021.  Paul was a special man who worked for the benefit of others all of his life.  We will miss him dearly.  His beloved wife, Nancy will continue their mission.

There is an extensive ministry with international post-doc researchers and visiting scholars who are primarily Chinese.  Some are Master's or PhD students.  They are mostly working at Emory University, Georgia Tech, Georgia State, or the CDC.  Many are in the U.S. for one year or less.  Since the declining health of Paul and his untimely death, we now have a team of people who have helped and supported Nancy in keeping their mission going.  Three others share in the teaching, communication, and relationship building/mentoring.  The Discovery class is a class for those who do not speak English as their first language.  But, there are those from China (parents of young adults and families with young children) who are here to help who cannot manage the level of English, so the Discovery/Mandarin class has continued online.  In fact, because of the internet, many of the members of the class are presently in China or different parts of the U.S., and many of those are influencing and encouraging others to seek the Lord and join the class.  They are anticipating in the near future three Discovery classes; one in person, one by internet and one in the Chinese language (which is already functioning now).

Begining on April 3rd, a "hybrid model"  will be used at the church site.  That way, they do not lose those who do not live here who rely on this class as their primary souce of spiritual growth.  They expect to see a growth in the in-person class as they are physically present in the neighborhood once again for the many internationals who live in Atlanta.  This class is mainly for seekers, but it is becoming also a discipleship class.  Nancy will continue to lead the ministry of teaching and mentoring/discipling, as more are being trained and equipped to carry on the work of expanding God's Kingdom.  In the meantime, Nancy is continuing to develop a new series of Bible study lessons to begin in April.  She hopes this will reach others outside their class as well.  In the past, the weekly lessons have been used by individuals who are mentoring or leading a Bible study in other churches, especially with those who speak English as a second or third language.
