Growing Our Faith Through Community
Oct 8 - 22
Jesus said, “I am the vine, you are the branches. Those who abide in me and I in them bear much fruit, because apart from me you can do nothing” (John 15:5). Through faithful stewardship of the Body of Christ here at St. Thomas United Methodist Church, we are able to proclaim the Good News here in our community and beyond, both in word and deed.
This month we begin our “Growing Our Faith Through Generosity” campaign. I will be preaching on generosity and you will hear from some of our faithful members as to why they support our ministries through their prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Our theme underscores that everyone who identifies with St. Thomas has a responsibility for our community as well as our tithes and offerings. It understands that I am responsible for the world around me, and that by giving to God through St. Thomas I have the ability to change my community for the good. In short, growing our faith through generosity to the ministries of St. Thomas means making a difference in the lives of others.
When I arrived to be your pastor in July, I was in awe of all you are doing for one another and for our community. I am so humbled and honored to be your pastor and be a witness to this church being the hands and feet of Christ and I can’t wait to see where God will lead us in 2024!
On Sunday, October 22nd we will celebrate our commitment to St. Thomas, or what I like to call “Generosity Sunday.” This is our opportunity to express our giving to the ministries of this great congregation. I pray you will join us and celebrate all that God is doing among us.
Friends, St. Thomas would not exist without you, as our ministry depends on each of you for participation and support. Supporting all we do requires a lot of prayer, sharing our gifts, and being open to the leading of the Holy Spirit. It’s because of you that we are making a difference in our community and the world!
